September 21
Hercules, The Trojan War, Wine Country
Enjoy a slow morning as you savor the town of Nafplio. Enjoy a coffee seaside, and later, there is plenty of excellent shopping to be had.
In the afternoon, you can grab your car and take a short drive through orange and olive groves to visit Mycenae, the mythical home of King Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. It was here where the explorer Heinrich Schliemann believed he had found the mask of King Agamemnon. And here lived King Menelaus, a central figure in the Trojan War, who lead the Spartan contingent of the Greek army.
The approach takes us through low lying hills and valleys studded with shining olive groves- but once there, beehive tombs and cyclopean walls await you.
After touring the grounds and the museum, you can make your way to Nemea, where Hercules was put to one of his labors, slaying the Nemean Lion.
You can tour the grounds, and run in the actual ancient stadium which at one time held games that rivaled those at Olympia. Afterward we will have reservations at an award winning winery to taste test their best wines. You can tour their vineyards, and enjoy a light lunch on the grounds.
In the afternoon, you can return to the lovely town of Nafplio.

Ancient Olive Trees, Hill-Top Villages, Marble Mines
This morning you have plenty of options. Relax and have a late breakfast or get up and start your tour of Paros.
Either way you will have many options to choose from. First off, just out of town, you can make a quick stop at the marble mines where the famous Parian marble was used by artist to make some of the finest statues that we know today (the Medici Venus -Uffizi, Florence and the Nike of Samothrace -Louvre, Paris).
Then continue onto hilltop villages where you can stop for a coffee and see immaculate houses and stunning views. If you are up to it, you can also walk the Byzantine trails. These trails used to be the only way that the people of Paros could get from one village to another.
In addition, how about stopping by two more islands, close by? You can grab the 10 minute ferry that takes you to Antiparos. It is a small island that you can take your time exploring. We will send you to the beach at Agios Georgios where you can catch a fishing boat for the island of Despotiko and uninhabited island with unique archeological finds.
Then there is swimming off the boat and a delightful late lunch at a nearby taverna (meal is on you-but we can arrange a reservation). All in all a wonderful day!
