Day Four May 18
Monday
Sorrento & The Amalfi Coast
Ferry to Positano & The Amalfi Coast. Be ready this morning as we make our way to the port for a scenic ferry ride along the Amalfi Coast, bound for the famous village of Positano. The journey itself is unforgettable—azure waters, dramatic limestone cliffs, and colorful villages dotting the shoreline create one of the most breathtaking coastlines in Europe.
Positano has a fascinating history. Once a quiet fishing village, it rose to fame in the mid-20th century when writers, artists, and celebrities fell in love with its beauty. Today, its pastel-colored houses seem to tumble down the cliffs toward the sea, creating the iconic view that has inspired countless paintings and photographs.
While here, you’ll have time to explore at your own pace. Stroll the narrow cobblestone lanes, browse elegant boutiques for hand-painted ceramics, linen clothing, and artisan jewelry, or pause in a seaside café with a view of the glittering Tyrrhenian Sea. If you’d like, dip your feet in the water—or even pack a swimsuit for a refreshing swim.
In the late afternoon, we’ll return by ferry to Sorrento. Tonight, enjoy another evening in this vibrant town. Sorrento is famous for its limoncello, a lemon liqueur made from the region’s fragrant citrus groves. Be sure to try a glass before or after dinner, perhaps while people-watching in the lively piazzas or savoring the sunset over the Bay of Naples.

Day Five May 19
Tuesday
A Day on Capri
This morning, we set off for the enchanting island of Capri, long celebrated as one of the Mediterranean’s crown jewels. With our round-trip ferry tickets in hand, we’ll glide across the sparkling Bay of Naples, watching as Capri’s dramatic cliffs rise boldly from the sea—a breathtaking sight that has inspired poets, painters, and dreamers for centuries.
Capri’s allure is timeless. The Greeks believed this island was the home of the Sirens, whose haunting songs lured sailors to their fate. Later, in Roman times, Emperor Augustus declared Capri his private paradise, and his successor, Emperor Tiberius, ruled the empire from here for the final decade of his life. His villas, perched high above the sea, became legendary for their extravagance and mystery. Over the centuries, Capri has continued to captivate artists, writers, and jet-set travelers from around the world.
Upon arrival, we’ll journey up to Anacapri, the quieter and more traditional village of the island. From here, a chairlift will carry us to the summit of Monte Solaro, the highest point on Capri. The panorama from the top is unforgettable—stretching across the Bay of Naples to Mount Vesuvius, down the Amalfi Coast, and on clear days, as far as the distant mountains of Calabria.
After descending, we’ll make our way to Capri town. Its cobblestone lanes are lined with elegant boutiques, sunlit piazzas, and charming cafés. Here you may visit the Gardens of Augustus, a lush oasis filled with vibrant flowers and statues. From its terraces, you’ll enjoy one of the island’s most iconic views: the famous Faraglioni, three towering rock formations rising from the turquoise sea, said in legend to be home to sea spirits.
Lunch is at your leisure—whether you choose a seaside trattoria serving the catch of the day, or a piazza café offering fresh pasta with Capri’s sun-ripened tomatoes, you’ll be dining in one of the most beautiful settings in the world.
In the afternoon, we’ll ferry back across the bay to Sorrento. The evening is yours to enjoy: perhaps a leisurely stroll through town, a glass of limoncello under the stars, or a special dinner at our hotel’s restaurant, where the views over the Bay of Naples are the perfect finale to the day.

Napoli
Heritage, History, and the Heart of Southern Italy. Start your morning with a leisurely breakfast, savoring the panoramic views of the Bay of Naples from our hotel. The sparkling waters, the distant outline of Mount Vesuvius, and the bustling port below create a stunning backdrop for a relaxed start to the day.
Our private driver will then pick us up for a journey back to Napoli. Along the way, we can explore towns and villages that may hold personal significance, tracing family roots or uncovering connections to your ancestral past. This is your heritage day, and our team will be on hand to help bring your family story to life, connecting you to the rich cultural and historical tapestry of the region.
Upon arrival in Napoli, we’ll check into our hotel and take a gentle orientation walk through the historic heart of the city. Naples is a city of contrasts and layers—ancient and modern coexisting in vibrant harmony. Narrow cobblestone streets reveal centuries-old churches, baroque palaces, and lively open-air markets. Statues, fountains, and artisan shops fill the piazzas, offering glimpses into daily Neapolitan life.
One of Naples’ most famous claims to fame is its pizza. Widely considered the birthplace of pizza, Napoli perfected this culinary art over centuries. The classic Margherita, with its simple yet perfect combination of fresh tomato, mozzarella, and basil—representing the colors of the Italian flag—was created here in honor of Queen Margherita in the late 19th century. Join us in the evening as we eat at a wonderful pizzaria, as we have dinner together.
Naples is more than a city; it is a living experience—full of history, flavor, and heart. Today is all about connecting with its spirit, its streets, and perhaps even your personal heritage woven into its story.

Assisi
The Heart of Umbria and the Legacy of St. Francis. This morning we are off by fast train to the outskirts of Rome. There our private driver will be on hand to whisk us to Assisi, a jewel in the heart of Umbria. Along the way, we’ll pass through rolling hills, vineyards, and charming medieval villages, stopping as we wish for sightseeing, a leisurely coffee, or even lunch at a local trattoria. These small towns offer a glimpse of traditional Umbrian life—quiet piazzas, stone streets, and centuries-old churches that seem frozen in time.
Upon arrival in Assisi, we’ll check into your villa and take a moment to settle in. Later, we will embark on an orientation walk through the winding back streets of the town. Every narrow alley, stone stairway, and quiet piazza seems to lead to one sacred destination: the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Italy.
Founded in the 13th century, the basilica honors St. Francis, whose life and teachings transformed the spiritual landscape of the medieval world. Known for his humility, love of nature, and devotion to the poor, St. Francis is one of the most beloved saints in history. Inside the basilica, the frescoes by Giotto and other Renaissance masters vividly depict his life—from his renunciation of wealth to his deep connection with all living creatures. Walking these sacred halls, it’s easy to feel the serene spirituality that has drawn pilgrims for centuries.
After our walk, we’ll return to our hotel to relax before dinner.
Tonight, we will dine together, enjoying a marvelous meal while overlooking the gently rolling fields of Umbria. As the sun sets over the verdant countryside, the flavors of local olive oil, fresh vegetables, truffles, and regional wines will make for a dining experience that is as memorable as the day itself.
