Welcome to Athens, the birthplace of democracy. In this famous city our journey begins. Our hotel is located near the New Acropolis Museum, rated one of the finest museums in the world (including awards for its unique architecture) with spectacular views of the Acropolis and the Parthenon. You owe it to yourself to take your time visiting the museum and then make your way back to our hotel to sit and gaze up at the Acropolis from the roof-top bar.
Leave some time for a short rest before joining us later for a drink and introductions. We have planned a special first night dinner at a nearby taverna.

Day Three May 21
Athens
We are up early this morning as we take a walk in the rolling grounds surrounding the Acropolis. We will make our way up to the "historic rock” to take in a wonder of ancient architecture, the Parthenon, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Take all the time you need to explore this monument dating from 447 B.C., including sweeping views of Athens. We will walk together through the Ancient Agora and end up in the winding streets of Monastiraki, one of the oldest markets of Athens. Lunch is on your own, but we can recommend some of the best souvlaki that Athens has to offer.
In the afternoon, there will be plenty to do, go to the National Archeology museum, shop the boutiques, or just sit at a sidewalk cafe and enjoy your time.
Dinner is on your own with recommendations from us.
Includes-Breakfast/Entrance fee Acropolis & Agora/ Walk / UNESCO World Heritage Site (Acropolis).

A little about our dinners together...
A little about our dinners together...
We think the cuisine of Greece is one of the finest in the world (and some experts agree-click here to read about UNESCO recognizing the Mediterranean Diet). We work with every restaurant to make sure that the food you will be eating is in season and fresh. We usually start with abundant appetizers (called mezedes in Greek) so that you can sample a lot of good food. Then we let you choose from a selection for your main course.
In addition, you have filled out a form before our trip, that notifies us of your food preferences, food allergies, and foods you avoid. We keep this in mind each time we are eating out, so that you get the foods you want/ need.
We also have local wines with each meal-both red and white, as much as you would like. And we always end each meal with dessert. Many of our guest rate the food as one of the highlights of the trip, or is it the wine drinking, or maybe it is both :)

Day Four May 22
We take off by ferry to Paros
No need to pack your bags, as we will leave after breakfast, by hydrofoil for a day trip to the lovely island of Hydra. There are no roads and no cars on Hydra, which has enabled this island to maintain its traditional character, with neoclassical houses amphitheater-like, sweeping up and around the port.
A walk is in order as we take in the highlights this island has to offer, including a tour of the traditional 'captain's house'. We will have lunch together sampling the local fare. We are back on board our ferry in the afternoon to return to Poros. Dinner is on your own with plenty of recommendations from us.
Includes-Breakfast/Walking Tour of Hydra/ Entrance Fee and Tour of Traditional Captains House/ Lunch/ Ferry to and From Hydra/ Overnight Island of Poros.

Day Five
May 23
Paros
This morning we will set forth on our tour of Paros. We will continue onto hilltop villages where we can stop for a coffee and see immaculate houses and stunning views. Those of us who want to, can also walk the Byzantine trails. These trails used to be the only way that the people of Paros could get from one village to another.
We will pick a village on the seaside for a taverna lunch on your own.
The afternoon is yours to sit poolside, watch the yachts as they dock for the evening or walk the back streets to partake in some excellent shopping. Dinner on your own, with many options seaside.

How we choose our hotels...
How we choose our hotels...
One of our clients is a world traveler and has chosen to do six tours with us. She always asks us, "How do you do it? How do you choose these great hotels?"
Our criteria is central and quiet. We look for hotels that you can roll right out of and into the action. We do not want to have to take transport to get into the heart of any place we are staying. Then our hotels should also be on a quiet side street so that we are not awakened by traffic or noise.
We also do not like to stay in resorts or chain hotels, because quite frankly, once you are inside the gates you could be anywhere in the world. Our goal is to bring you boutique hotels with local flavor and helpful staff.

Day Six
May 24
Naxos
Today we visit Mycenae, the mythical home of King Agamemnon and Clytemnestra. It was here where the explorer Heinrich Schliemann believed he had found the mask of Agamemnon. The approach takes us through low lying hills and valleys studded with shining olive groves- but once there, beehive tombs and cyclopean walls await us. After touring the grounds and the museum, we will make our way to Nemea, where Hercules was put to one of his labors, slaying the Nemean Lion.
We will tour the grounds, which once held games that rivaled those at Olympia. Afterward we will stop at an award winning winery to taste test their best wines. We will tour their vineyards, and enjoy a light lunch on the grounds.
In the afternoon, we will return to Nafplio where dinner will be on your own, but first join us in the courtyard of our hotel for a wine tasting of some of the best regional wines that Greece has to offer.
Includes-Breakfast/ Private Transportation/ Entrance Fee and Visit to Mycenae/ Entrance fee to Nemea and Stadium/ Wine tasting with Lunch/ UNESCO World Heritage Site/ Overnight Nafplio

Day Seven
May 25
Naxos
We are off the archaeological site of Ancient Corinth, rivaling Athens in importance in the ancient world. It was his visit here that prompted Apostle Paul to write his letter to the Corinthians.
We will have a stop to look over the famed Corinth Canal to take in this feat of engineering, before lunch on your own.
In the afternoon our private coach will take us to the airport where we will hop a short flight to the island of Paros, in the heart of the Cycladic island chain.
We will settle into the seaside town of Naoussa known for its seaside tavernas and small quaint wharf. After checking in we will offer a walk of this town, nipping in to see some churches and discovering the back streets.
You can return to the hotel and enjoy a drink around the pool in the afternoon. Join us later as we enjoy dinner together at a local taverna, seaside.
Includes-Breakfast/ Ancient Corinth / Visit to Corinth Canal/ Private Transportation back to Athens Airport/ Fights to the Islands of Paros / Walk of Naoussa/ Pool time/ Dinner together/ Overnight Island of Paros

Time together and time alone On our tours
a perfect mix...
Time together and time alone On our tours
a perfect mix...
Our past tour participants really love the daily mix of some time together seeing the sites and then some time alone to do what it is that you want to do. We usually head out together in the morning, see the archeological wonder for that day, or head out on the Byzantine trail for breathtaking views to the sea, absorb the meaning of what it is we are seeing, and then have a perfect break for lunch.
Then the afternoons or the time before dinner is usually on your own. This is the time to grab a beer seaside, an iced coffee at the hotel, or return to the room for some quiet time reading. Not to mention that some of these islands have one-of-a-kind boutiques which are a real pleasure to visit, where you can spend some time picking up simple treasures that you cannot find back home.
In addition, we do not eat each meal together as a group. This allows you to have some time by yourself or with your partner, explore other parts of the town, and find your own special dinner spot.
One note-When we have dinners together we supply you with really exceptional food in the quantities you want, so some people when we are not eating together, are satisfied with a 'gelato dinner'!
